DesMAN Project
My idea was inspired from Ms. Blackwood, my English teacher, calling her freshman class "her minions". At first, I was having some difficulty with inputing the equations, but after searching around on Desmos, I found some tutorials to help me. After that, I had a lot of fun playing around with the lines and circles to make the head of the minion. It was definitely frustrating at times, but overall I had a great experience with Desmos and learning how to apply what I'm doing in class to my Desman.

First, we went around the school building and our homes to find circles and measure the distance around and across. Then we divided the distance around from across and found that they were all close to pie, and with the average of all the answers which was 3.19. After, we went and put the information into a demos graph. Something I found difficult at first was figuring out how to put the 2 numbers, x and y, into the chart. After I figured it out though, it was easy. A surprising part of this project was the fact that all the answers were so close to pie. I knew the it was a project dealing with circles, but I wasn't expecting it. Finally, the most interesting part of this exercise was going around the school with my group and finding circular objects- you'd be surprised with how few there actually was! Overall, I was a very fun and interactive project that I thoroughly enjoyed. Below are the pictures of my groups graph, the class' graph, and a picture of my friend and I measuring a table:)

1) I learned how to use the pythagorean theorem to figure out the hypotenuse of each triangle.
2) The most fun part was decorating the spiral because it really required you to think creatively.
3) The most complicated part of making this pythagorean spiral was probably getting every angel perfectly so that it looked right. My triangle is still not completely correct, but once you got the hang of it, making it got easier.

I really enjoyed playing around with the different equations and seeing where each line fit. It was somewhat challenging and frustrating at times if you couldn’t find the right equation, but overall it was a good learning experience.

Hello World:)
Hi! I'm Madison.
Right now, one of the most important things to me is becoming closer in my relationship with Christ. I've always been raised in a Christian home; I was blessed in this way. But just because your parents are Christians doesn't necessarily mean you're a Christian until accept Christ personally. I did this a few years ago and ever since then I've wanted to grow in my walk with him. Right now, and throughout the rest of this year, my goal is to become more developed in my relationship with Christ, so I can shine his light for others to see. One of my second most important things to me right now is friends. I want to grow in my relationship with the friends I have now, but also expand who I hang out with. I don't want to be friends with just a certain group but with everyone who needs a friend. My last important thing to me right now is my new puppy, Lucy! She's a yellow Lab and she's 8 weeks old, which means she's already chewing everything, and just now learning where to go to the bathroom;) Also grades are important to me, but even though grades are important, I don't want them to be the only thing that's on my mind all the time. There is much more to life then what you got on a test. This year I'm excited about developing my math skills, learning more about the Bible and the Ancient World, and expanding my vocabulary. I'm also excited for Christmas break- I'm going to the Bahamas! This year I'm anxious about presenting. I've never really liked getting up and talking to a group of people who's attention was solely focused on me. There's just something unnerving at the fact that you could mess up any second with all these people watching you. This is something that I want to become better and more comfortable with as the school year goes on. One thing you might not know about me is that I was born with a Nike check on my forehead. It stayed there until I was about six months old and finally started fading away. Thankfully!
Goodbye for now, Madison:)
